Cégep Marie-Victorin, located in the northeast of Montreal, was evacuated by the police on Tuesday afternoon.
A man was observed with a firearm in his possession and in the company of other individuals who entered the CEGEP, explained a spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Véronique Dubuc.
The police on site evacuated the establishment as a precaution and arrested a man. The latter was finally released because he was not linked to the event, said the SPVM at the end of the afternoon.
“The search is over and we can confirm that the group of individuals left the CEGEP,” added Ms. Dubuc late in the afternoon.
No one was threatened or injured. No firearms were located at the scene.
