July 30, 2005

The Canadiens select Anahim Lake, BC native Carey Price fifth overall in the NHL Draft. This choice raised eyebrows for some observers as the Habs had several goalkeepers in their organization, including José Théodore, Cristobal Huet and Yann Danis, and let promising forwards such as Gilbert Brulé and Anze Kopitar slip away.

January 5, 2007

Two days after holding on in overtime and a shootout against the United States in the semifinals of the World Juniors, Carey Price helped Canada beat Russia in the final. Price is named tournament MVP.

June 7, 2007

Carey Price once again shows his enormous potential as he helps the Hamilton Bulldogs win the American Hockey League title. Price did it when he was 19 and was named playoff MVP.

October 10, 2007

20-year-old Carey Price stopped 26 shots and helped the Canadiens win 3-2 against the Pittsburgh Penguins in his first NHL start.

June 17, 2010

After losing his job as the Canadiens’ starting goaltender during the playoffs to Jaroslav Halak, Carey Price sees general manager Bob Gainey give him the keys to the kingdom despite everything by trading Halak to the St. Louis Blues in return for Lars Eller and Ian Schultz.

February 23, 2014

Carey Price is perfect against 24 shots from Sweden and Canada wins gold with a 3-0 victory in the final of the Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. Price is named the tournament’s most valuable goaltender after allowing just three goals in five games.

May 17, 2014

After helping the Canadiens reach the Eastern Conference final, Carey Price fell in the first game against the New York Rangers following a hard-hitting collision with Chris Kreider. In Price’s absence, the Canadian was eliminated in six games by the Rangers.

June 24, 2015

Carey Price’s exceptional season is recognized when he receives the Vézina, Hart and Ted-Lindsay trophies as the NHL’s most valuable goaltender and player. Price also shares the William M. Jennings with Corey Crawford of the Chicago Blackhawks and becomes the first player in NHL history to win all four trophies in the same season.

July 2, 2017

Carey Price signs an eight-year, $84 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid goaltender in NHL history. It is also the most lucrative contract in the history of the Canadiens.

March 12, 2019

The Canadiens defeated the Detroit Red Wings 3-1 and Carey Price edged Jacques Plante for first place in team history with 315 wins.

July 7, 2021

Carey Price allows only one goal, but the Canadian surrenders in front of the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final.

July 21, 2021

Two days before the announcement by the Canadian that Carey Price will have to have knee surgery, the goaltender was ignored by the Seattle Kraken during the expansion draft even though he was not protected by the Habs.

October 7, 2021

While recovering from knee surgery, Carey Price announces that he has decided to enroll in the NHL Players’ Assistance Program and the NHL Players’ Association. He would later reveal that he did it to tackle a substance abuse problem.

April 29, 2022

Still bothered by knee inflammation, Carey Price is playing his fifth game of the season, as the Canadiens conclude a sad campaign by crushing the Florida Panthers 10-2.

August 18, 2022

Two days after the 35e Carey Price’s birthday, general manager Kent Hughes announces that the goalkeeper’s rehabilitation is not going as planned and that everything indicates that he will miss at least the whole of the next season. If this is the end for Price, he will have made 712 outings, including 700 starts, in 15 seasons with the Canadiens and will have scored 361 victories on his record.
