Capitale-Nationale. | Head-on collision leaves six injured, alcohol could be involved

(Montreal) Alcohol could be involved in a head-on collision which left several injured Saturday evening in Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier, in the Capitale-Nationale region.

Emergency services were notified shortly before 11:30 p.m. about the impact between a sedan car and a sport utility vehicle (SUV) which had just occurred on Route 369, which also bears the name of the road of the Bravery in this place.

“The head-to-head collision would have occurred when the SUV deviated from its trajectory and ended up in the oncoming lane. The driver of the SUV was alone on board while five people were in the sedan with which he collided,” explained Ève Brochu-Joubert, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

“All those involved were transported to area hospitals to treat injuries ranging from minor to serious, but there is no fear for the lives of any of them,” said the information officer. .

The driver was, however, arrested and released, with a promise to appear in court at a later date.

“The driver of the SUV, a man in his thirties, may have been impaired by alcohol at the time of impact. This is why a blood sample was taken at the hospital,” said the SQ spokesperson.
