“Cannes Police Criminelle”, a “turnip” with “failed dubbing”!

TF1 continues to rely on new productions to charm its audience. This Monday, October 9, 2023, the channel broadcast the first three episodes of his new detective series, Cannes Criminal Police. As the name suggests, the plot and the actions take place in the heart of the city of Cannes and we follow the adventures of two teammates in their investigations full of twists and turns.

On the menu: a rather promising casting with Lucie Lucas known for having shone in Clem and Shy’m, whose real name is Tamara Marthe, who if she is a singer, has already played comedy in Profiling notably. The two pretty young women who play Camille Delmas and Léa Robert are accompanied by actor Jamie Bamber who plays Harry King, an ex-convict and master of counterfeiting who is as charming as he is mysterious.

Finally, the series having been co-produced by four different countries (the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden and France), it was filmed in English, then dubbed into French. A hell of a challenge for all the actors who had to speak English during filming and then dub themselves in French.

Cannes Criminal Police: less than complimentary opinions from viewers
On “Take French people… Make them act in English… Then ask them to dub themselves in French…”, “I watch TF1 and I found the voices strange that didn’t go with the mouth movements. Like a stupid idea, we have a good one!”, “If they had shot it in French it could have been good”, “The problem is that actors are not necessarily voice actors and we can see that clearly. Dubbing is a job, it’s catastrophic, it’s like reading a text”, “The idea of saturated images, it’s nice, it gives a little style, but this dubbing, incomprehensible”, “Between the WTF dubbing, the ultra bogus dialogues, the so 80’S stunts, the Charlie’s Angels-style snippets from wish… TF1 has the worst series of 2023!”, “Someone to tell me if the dubbing is poorly done on the series #Cannespolicecriminelle? Or is my box messing up?” “What is this madness? I’m crazy where the French series is dubbed into French by its own actresses? Not to mention that it looks like there is a continuous filter on the image.”, “We’re talking about it dubbing?? What is this shit?? Why did they do dubbing even they are French?”
