This is news that should delight fans of Vincent Lindon. The 62-year-old actor, with a career as brilliant as a Palme d’Or, will be the president of the next edition of the Cannes Film Festival : “Vincent Lindon, prize for interpretation in 2015 and actor in “Titane”, the Palme d’or 2021, will be the president of the jury of the 75th Cannes Film Festival which will be held from May 17 to 28 on the Croisette “ organizers said in a statement. An honor for the main interested party: “It is an immense honor and a very great pride to see me entrusted, in the midst of the tumult of the multiple events that we are going through in the world, with the splendid and heavy task of presiding over the Jury of the 75th Cannes International Film Festival.”
Vincent Lindon will therefore have to, surrounded by eight jurors, four men and four women, choose this year the film which will receive the Palme d’or 2022. Among them, the British actress Rebecca Hall, discovered in Vicky Christina BarcelonaIranian director Asghar Farhadi (A heroGrand Prix of the Cannes Film Festival 2021) and the Frenchman Ladj Ly (Wretchedjury prize 2019).
The films in competition were also revealed. Among the feature films in the running, Chronicle of a temporary affair with Sandrine Kiberlain – whose life Vincent Lindon shared – and Vincent Macaigne, Don Juan, musical comedy starring Virginie Efira and Tahar Rahim, but also More than ever by Emily Atef, the last film shot by Gaspard Ulliel before his fatal accident which occurred last January.
Vincent Lindon will take over from American director Spike Lee who, with his jury, crowned the film Titanium by the French Julia Ducournau in July 2021. The actor is no stranger to the Cannes Film Festival since in 2015, he won the Best Actor Award for the excellent drama by Stéphane Brizé The Law of the Market. Such talent had to be rewarded!
