Canadian hires Alex Barré-Boulet

Alex Barré-Boulet would have reached an agreement with the Montreal Canadiens, according to various media.

The Quebec forward would have signed a one-year, one-way contract worth $775,000, the minimum salary under the collective agreement in force in the NHL.

Never drafted despite a prolific junior career, Barré-Boulet has emerged as a dominant player in the American League, a circuit in which he has amassed 302 points in 294 games since joining the pros in 2018.

However, this production never translated to the NHL. In 68 meetings with the Tampa Bay Lightning (66) and the Seattle Kraken (2), spread over four seasons, he was limited to 18 points.

With the Tricolore, within a team in reconstruction, he will have the chance to show off at training camp next fall. However, we can believe that he is destined for the Laval Rocket farm club.
