The Café Joyeux has been open for a year in Bordeaux, a great initiative, eagerly awaited by people with disabilities and their families. In 2017, the first solidarity restaurant Café Joyeux was born, which employs and trains people mainly suffering from Down’s syndrome or cognitive disorders such as autism. The idea of the founders, the couple Yann and Lydwine, is to put disability back at the heart of the cities. And it works admirably well.
Yannick Revel: Café Joyeux is a business and like any café or restaurant, to attract customers, you need a friendly and welcoming place. We are therefore far from an application restaurant hidden at the bottom of a craft area, or tinkered with a few limited associative resources.
In each city, Café Joyeux is located on number 1 locations. In Bordeaux, it is rue Ste Colombe that it has taken up residence. A large bright space tastefully occupied by nice furniture, green plants and old stones. Open from morning to evening, you can come to Café Joyeux at any time of the day. For a little coffee, a lunch break, a quick snack, there is always a good reason to stop there. The cuisine is simple but very well executed, always based on fresh products and made 100% by the cheerful team. For example, at noon you can enjoy a formula at the price of 13 €.
