By-election in Jean-Talon | More than one in five voters have already voted

(Quebec) More than one in five voters have already voted in the Jean-Talon by-election during the two days of advance voting held on September 24 and 25.

As of the update on the morning of September 26, Élections Québec indicated that the participation rate was close to 22%.

During the last general election in 2022, the advance voting rate for Jean-Talon reached 31%.

Monday evening, Prime Minister François Legault invited the media to follow him as he went out to vote in the upscale neighborhood of Sillery – which is part of the riding – with his candidate Marie-Anik Shoiry.

In terms of total participation, citizens generally vote less in supplementary elections than in general elections. The average participation rate for the last ten partials was 37%.

However, Jean-Talon’s voters seem more motivated. The average participation for the last three partials in this constituency was 48%.

The next deputy for Jean-Talon will be elected on October 2. This is the fourth complementary election in this constituency since 2008.
