A prominent sentiment expressed by the Unterländer football community was the urgent need for reform within the TFV leagues, coupled with a desire to revitalize a robust Tyrolean league. Insights from Key Figures in Tyrolean Football

During the three-hour discussion, representatives from various clubs gathered to evaluate the current state of football in Kufstein. The event, moderated by football expert Friedl Schwaighofer, featured both commendations and critiques, culminating in a comprehensive status overview of local football.

The panel showcased a dynamic assortment of individuals from Tyrolean football. Notably, Denis Husic, who led SV Wörgl to a remarkable ascent to the Regionalliga West, was present, alongside Markus Unterrainer, sporting director at SK Ebbs—the top Regionalliga Tyrol team in the district. Hannes Rauch, previously the president of FC Kufstein and now leading FC Wacker Innsbruck since June 28, 2022, contributed valuable insights. The panel also included Gottfried Schneider, the principal of the sports middle school in Wörgl, and Thomas Krimbacher, city councilor and sports representative for Kufstein, who provided a broader perspective on football’s impact.

Gregor Danler, chairman of the referees’ committee, discussed the challenges surrounding referee assignments, while Christian Klimek, deputy chairman of SV Kirchbichl, rounded out the panel with his multifaceted experience in the sport. The Feinschmeckerei restaurant in Kirchbichl offered the perfect setting for this engaging dialogue.

Friedl Schwaighofer, with 56 years of dedication to football in various roles, prepared a diverse array of discussion topics. Danler emphasized the ongoing challenges in appointing referees, particularly the absence of provisions from the TFV regarding referee assignments in the second class. Club representatives praised the quality of Tyrolean refereeing and highlighted the importance of initiatives aimed at promoting respect within the sport.

Gottfried Schneider shared insights into training opportunities at the sports middle school, which will soon welcome female students with a focus on women’s football. Additionally, Thomas Krimbacher provided updates on the Kufstein sports center, which aims to support a variety of sports upon completion, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with football officials.

There was a clear consensus among participants regarding the necessity for immediate reform in the TFV leagues. Markus Unterrainer, Hannes Rauch, Denis Husic, and Christian Klimek collectively advocated for the establishment of an appealing Tyrolean league featuring 16 clubs as the fourth highest league. They expressed that this would facilitate competitive goals such as promotion and relegation, marking the current situation as unsatisfactory.

Another intriguing proposal put forth was the potential division of leagues into East, Central, and West categories. Participants unanimously agreed that a clear structure for Tyrolean football leagues is vital. Other topics discussed included coach training, the utilization of sports fields, and the significant role of volunteers within clubs. After two and a half hours of fruitful dialogue, the first MeinBezirk football roundtable in Kirchbichl concluded, with all attendees expressing a desire for further discussions in the future.
