Controlling the taxation of large French companies, the Minister of the Economy says he is in favor. At the end of the last Council of Ministers before the summer holidays, Friday, July 29, Bruno the Mayor declared himself “very favorable” to the mission of information on the taxation of the groups of the CAC 40 which do not pay corporation tax in France.

“Parliament is in its role when it controls, when it demonstrates transparency, and when it helps calm the debate”, he added. However, he said he was opposed to taxing corporate superprofits, including Total, which more than doubled its net profit in the second quarter to $5.7 billion.

If this mission “makes it possible to calm the debate a little, to see the reality of the problems rather than systematically having this reflex of taxation and that we look at what is really going on with corporate taxation, that we do the most great transparency on the subject”he explained, assuring there “see only benefits”.

The fact-finding mission to bend on the tax optimization practices used by companies in order not to pay corporate tax, as is the case of TotalEnergies. This proposal was announced on July 20 by Eric CoquerelChairman of La France Insoumise of the Finance Committee of the National Assembly.
