British Open | Nelly Korda leads by three shots

(St Andrews) American Nelly Korda shot a 4-under 68 to take a three-shot lead at the Women’s British Open on Friday.

The world’s best female golfer didn’t make a single bogey on the St. Andrews course and birdied the 17th.e and 18e holes for a second day in a row.

Korda, who is aiming for a second major title this season, is -8 after two rounds.

“I just try to stay present and not think about anything other than one shot at a time,” Korda said. “No matter what the course throws at me, I’m going to attack it.”

England’s Charley Hull, who led by one shot after the first round, shot 72 to share second place with reigning tournament champion Lilia Vu of the United States (70).

Korda, Vu and Hull played together in the first two rounds and this renowned group delivered.

Hull appeared undaunted by the task of going up against Korda, who won the Chevron Championship in April for her second major and one of six victories in 2024.

“It’s only three shots behind and that’s nothing going into the weekend rounds. Especially on this golf course,” Hull said. “I missed a lot of putts. I think Nelly had 30 putts and I had 36. So that’s six shots I lost to her on the greens.”

Ruoning Yin, the 2023 Women’s PGA Championship winner, is currently in fourth place at -4 but has yet to complete her second round.
