Brest is committed to two competitions at the same time : the National Championship (Butagaz Energy League) and the European Cup, known as the Champions League.
National and international objectives
In the Brest workforce, 6 players therefore returned World Cup medalists last December. An intense competition that has worn heads and especially bodies. And the challenge, there will be that for sure, to meet the two objectives clearly displayed by the coach: ” First the will to defend the title of champion of France and therefore be in the championship final at the end of the season. And then do the best possible course in the European Cup and therefore get out of the pools to be able to play round-trip matches which are important moments in a season in the Champions League », Explains Pablo Morel.
One match every three days
And when you have to be on all fronts, the pace is tough: ” We have 14 matches in two months. Seven in January and seven in February », Explains the coach. That is one game every two to three days.
Today Brest is 4th in the Butagaz Energy League. So to keep his title, the coach intends to start this year 2022 with a victory: ” To be at the end of the last two, it will go through victories from the start of the year. Because there we are starting to play direct competitors with Chambray and Paris. So we’ll have to be ready at the start of this year », Affirms Pablo Morel.
The next Champions League match will be Saturday, January 8, against the Romanians in Bucuresti.
