Boucherville | A man dies while driving off the road

(Boucherville) A man in his thirties lost his life Friday morning after the vehicle he was in left the road in Boucherville, Montérégie, before plunging into the water of the St. Lawrence River.

Shortly after daybreak, the Longueuil agglomeration police department (SPAL) did not know if other people were in the car.

The police were informed around 3:20 a.m. that the car traveling east had left the road on Marie-Victorin Boulevard.

When they arrived, SPAL police officers found that it was impossible for them to approach the vehicle which was in the water. They therefore called the fire department of the municipality in order to be able to get the man out of the cabin.

The unfortunate was then transported to the hospital, where he died a little later.

In the early morning, the police were trying to find out if other people were able to get out of the vehicle before the intervention of the police and firefighters.

A section of boulevard Marie-Victorin was closed to traffic so that investigators could reconstruct the events. Very apparent braking marks on the road seem to be linked to the automobile which fell into the water.
