Boston Bruins | Jeremy Swayman signs eight-year, $66 million contract

(Boston) Goaltender Jeremy Swayman has signed an eight-year contract with the Boston Bruins that will earn him a total of $66 million and will expire at the end of the 2031-2032 season.

Bruins general manager Don Sweeney announced the news in a press release Sunday morning.

Sweeney and Swayman are scheduled to meet with the media late this morning.

During the 2023-24 season, Swayman appeared in 44 games with the Bruins, posting an overall record of 25-10-8 with a 2.53 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage. In 12 playoff games, he recorded a 2.15 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage.

The six-foot-three, 195-pound goaltender has appeared in 132 career NHL games, all with the Bruins. He has a record of 79-33-15 with a 2.34 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage. He ranks fifth in franchise history for goals against average and fourth for save rate.

Among active NHL goaltenders who played at least 25 games in 2023-24, Swayman ranked among the top 10 for the average of goals allowed (8e rank) and save rate (tied in 5e place).

In February 2024, he blocked a career-high 43 shots in a 4–3 Bruins shootout victory over the Dallas Stars.

Swayman, 25, from Anchorage, Alaska, was selected for the 2024 NHL All-Star Game via fan voting.

In 2022, Swayman was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team after ranking first among rookie goaltenders who played at least 25 games in wins (23), goals against average ( 2.41) and the save rate (.914).

Swayman was a fourth-round pick of the Bruins — 111e in total — at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
