Bordeaux and its September terraces

As blogger Sophie Juby says, the supply of terraces is growing. Between the pedestrianization of the hyper center and the COVID effect, the Girondins are demanding and fond of outdoor meals. The idea is to give you a few low-profile addresses where you can enjoy the environment as much as the content on your plate. Let’s start with Bonne mer, place Marie Brizard (at the top of rue Fondaudège) in Bordeaux. At Bonne mer, as its name suggests, a fish menu that is always well prepared, one of the few restaurants in Bordeaux dedicated to the sea. It is open for lunch on weekdays and in the evening on weekends. Remember to reserve your spot. Then, Cantina Lino, a hidden garden a stone’s throw from Parc Bordelais, the address out of sight, an oasis of calm at the back of the buildings, a restaurant like this, we love them on hot days. Cantina Lino is an Italian restaurant near the Bordeaux park which has a city garden transformed into a terrace. The place exudes freshness with its stone walls dressed in Virginia creeper, its green metal furniture and its large white parasols. We feast on generous pizzas in this quite unique green setting that makes us forget that we are close to the boulevards. The chefs are Italian and the service cheerful. Le Caillou, the restaurant in the botanical garden. We really like the atypical setting of this mini guinguette which extends the botanical garden and the chef’s home cooking.

Sophie Juby has been writing about food and wine since 2014. In her blog, Le Meilleur de Bordeaux (formerly Bordeaux Cuisine and Co), she shares her passion for her adopted city through chronicles and favourites. In 2018, she launched a guide to restaurants in Bordeaux with Editions Sud-Ouest: Le Meilleur de Bordeaux. Today, the third edition of the book is available in bookstores, always with the desire to highlight sincere addresses where home cooking is served in keeping with the seasons. Sophie Juby also gives preference to those who use local products. And as she also thinks of all budgets, she has selected 100 accessible restaurants. An easy classification in 10 sections allows you to find your gourmet happiness among: 10 Dishes to share / 10 Gourmet restaurants / 10 Bistros / 10 World cuisine / 10 Vegetarians / 10 Lunch break / 10 Coffee bars & tea rooms / 10 Brunches / 10 Open on Sundays / 10 wine & cocktail bars. Sophie Juby is present on the networks, Instagram, Facebook and on a more personal blog.
