“Boom Boom”, Collective | The duty

“Sorry, I’m leaving / I’ll be back in an hour / I have to go change the world. » So sang Richard Desjardins 25 years ago, on the emblematic album Boom Boom. It is this gift to change the world – or at least its souls – which emanates from Boom Boom, a collective work that pays tribute to the raw and indomitable poetry of the Abibi singer-songwriter. Thirteen artists from all walks of life, including Catherine Ethier, Maïtée Labrecque-Saganash, Émilise Lessard-Therrien, Safia Nolin and Jocelyn Sioui, let the words of Desjardins penetrate their literary, musical or political universe in personal and romantic stories. It resonates the passion, the commitment, the anger, the quest for justice and the fierce defense of a wild and free nature which have marked the career of the poet and which cross the generations to be embodied in the struggles of today today. In addition to allowing us to understand the impact of Desjardins on our collective imagination, the collection shows all the power of a heart which insists on beating in unison with its own, and with those who will follow them. Of great beauty.
