Bones found in the Canton of Melbourne, in Estrie

Bones were found on Saturday morning in an isolated corner of the municipality of the Canton of Melbourne, in Estrie. Investigators from the Sûreté du Québec were dispatched to the scene.

According to information provided by SQ spokesman Nicolas Scholtus, it was a citizen who reported the macabre discovery to the police around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Patrolmen were first sent to the site to ascertain the presence of the bones. It is not confirmed at this time that these are human remains, but the observation of the patrollers was sufficient for a team of major crime investigators to be assigned to the case.

A team from the forensic identification service must also be sent to the scene to carry out the analysis of the scene.
