The transaction has not yet been officially announced by the Quebec aircraft manufacturer, but it has been formalized in the Quebec Land Registry. The business jet manufacturer had occupied the place since 2010 and was finishing aircraft there. These activities have been relocated to the complex located on Côte-Vertu Boulevard and to the Pointe-Claire finishing center.

This sale was expected since it is part of the cost reduction strategy deployed by President and Chief Executive Officer Éric Martel in the fall of 2020, a few months after his arrival at the helm. He had expressed the wish to reduce the industrial footprint of the company, which was refocusing on business jets after leaving commercial aviation, since the capacity of the factories was greater than demand.

“The money has already been received and is already included in our financial forecast,” Bombardier spokesman Mark Masluch said.

This hangar located on Percival-Reid Street has an area of 80,000 square feet (7430 square meters). As a whole, the land covers 154,000 square feet (14,300 square meters). Skyservice is already present in the vicinity of Montréal-Trudeau. It operates five points of service in Canada and four others in the United States.

Bombardier still wants to reduce its footprint on the huge 4 million square feet (371,000 square meters) lot located in the Montreal borough of Saint-Laurent on which the former Canadair factory is located.

In 2024, the company could keep only 40% of the land.
