Blue Jays to host Seattle Mariners in first round

(Baltimore) Assured of dominating the trio of clubs reaching the playoffs without being section champions, the Toronto Blue Jays will host the Seattle Mariners in the first round of the American playoffs, in a two-of-three formula.

The scenario came to fruition with Seattle’s 7-6 win over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.

Quebecer Abraham Toro tipped the scales with a sacrifice fly in 10e sleeve.

The Seattle-Toronto showdown begins Friday at Rogers Center. We will also play on Saturday. If a third game is needed, it would take place on Sunday.

In the regular season, the Jays have beaten the Mariners only two out of seven times in 2022.

Toronto has been guaranteed a playoff spot since Sept. 30.

Earlier Tuesday, rain led to the postponement of the game which was to oppose the Blue Jays to the Orioles, in Baltimore

Both clubs will conclude the regular season on Wednesday, with a doubleheader starting at 12:35 p.m.

Baltimore is already at 82 wins, a year after a campaign of 110 losses.

On Wednesday, the Orioles will delegate as starting pitchers Mike Baumann (1-3) and Spenser Watkins (5-6).

The visitors’ first starting pitcher will be Mitch White. The second remains to be determined.
