Blocked access to Montréal-Trudeau | Legault wants “it never happens again”

François Legault assured that the government was working so that the cocktail of construction sites which severely hindered access to Montreal-Trudeau airport last weekend “never happens again”.

“It’s not acceptable what happened around the airport in Dorval,” said Mr. Legault, as the roadwork season opens in Quebec. “We are looking, both at the Ministry of Transport and with the City of Montreal, how this congestion could have happened and how we are doing to ensure that it never happens again. »

Last Saturday and Sunday, hundreds of passengers waited for hours in a monster traffic jam caused, among other things, by the closure of the access ramp from Route 138 to the A20. Hundreds of passengers missed their flights due to heavy congestion near the airport.

In response to a question, the Prime Minister mentioned the impact of these congestion problems on the perception of tourists.

“We have to be careful, because we have an image to preserve,” said Mr. Legault. “You have to have an airport that is easily accessible. To enter and to exit. »

François Legault spoke on the sidelines of a grant announcement for the outdoors in the Lanaudière region. The press conference was held in L’Assomption, in the Prime Minister’s riding.
