THE Piano Man Billy Joel is making a strong comeback: not only will he soon release his first new song in 17 years, but he will also perform at the Grammys ceremony, having been nominated 23 times and won five Grammys in his career.
Billy Joel, 74, released an excerpt of his new song on social media on Monday, Turn The Lights Back On. Only a few piano notes, but enough to recognize the signature of the author of Piano Man (1973), Just the Way You Are (1977) and honesty (1978). Turn The Lights Back On will be released on 1er February, three days before the Grammys ceremony in Los Angeles.
Billy Joel’s name is therefore added to those Burna Boy, Luke Combs, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo and Travis Scott, who will also perform at the major award ceremony for the American music industry.
Very active on the music scene in the 1970s and 1980s, Billy Joel slowed down in the 1990s. After the release of River of Dreams, in 1993, a highly acclaimed album, he announced that he would stop recording new songs. Billy Joel released a single in 2007, All My Life.
