Be careful with your sports bets during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, or with your purchases of cheaper tickets... The National Olympic Committee reminds us that the only authorized sales site for the events is that of Paris 2024: tickets.paris2024.org. (ANDRESR / E+ / GETTY IMAGES)

During this Olympic Games period, be careful, the authorities and banks are warning about the increase in attempts at scams and fraud. There are many fake sales platforms that offer tickets for the events at competitive prices.

As a buyer, you think you are getting a good deal, but you will never receive your tickets. The goal for fraudsters: to collect both your money and your personal and banking information. To avoid fraud, the National Olympic Committee reminds that the only authorized sales site for the events is that of Paris 2024: tickets.paris2024.org.

Also be careful with reselling on the web and social networks like Leboncoin, Instagram, Facebook pages. Here too, for resales, there is only one dedicated official platform. It opened at the end of May 2024, with regulated prices: ticket-resale.paris2024.org. All other resale sites are prohibited.

Private sales are, however, permitted. But they carry a big risk: the buyer is never certain that the seller actually has a place for the Olympic Games.

In fact, for any online payment related to the Olympic Games, carefully check the URL of the site before entering your banking information. To pay; use secure methods such as a 4 or 6 digit code, which you will have to enter for each online banking transaction, a code offered by some banks. Be careful of all suspicious QR codes, which can redirect to banking phishing sites. That is to say, phishing scams.

Do not hesitate to activate the temporary lock on your card if necessary. Turn off remote payments when you’re not using them. Real-time alerts on your bank account allow you to react quickly in the event of a suspicious transaction.

Yes, here too, be careful! Sports betting sites are highly regulated in France, and referenced by the National Gaming Authority (ANJ). There are plenty of fake betting sites where you have no guarantee of receiving your winnings, and you risk having your personal and banking data stolen. Turn to official, specialized and approved sites for sports betting. The list of approved sports betting sites exist.
