Bulgaria has not forgotten its communist past. A nostalgia fueled in particular by misinformation, and young people are the first to be affected.

A vestige of the past. It’s hard not to see the imposing statue of Lenin. Since the end of theeraue communist, it left the city center of Sofia (Bulgaria), but was never destroyed. A page of history which is also part of the school curriculum. In a high school, the last lessons of the year are devoted to Russia, with numerous textbooks made available to students.

Bulgaria joined the European Union in 2007. This accession was eagerly awaited after years of communist dictatorship. But since then, the state of mind seems to have changed.
