In Beirut, some residents are still in shock over the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Lebanon still appears to be Israel’s target and people are worried about a further escalation of violence.
Two days after the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah, the inhabitants of Beirut (Lebanon) gather to pray. On this Sunday, September 29, the pews of the Church are full. Exceptionally, a Lebanese flag is carried to the altar. Parishioners gathered in this church to pray together and share their fears about what happened next. Everyone is wondering when the bombings will stop. A Christian father admits to being afraid for his children. On the other side of town, a mother and her son say they no longer leave their apartment and are even considering returning to France.
Israeli offensives have forced many residents to leave their homes. In total, nearly a million Lebanese people had to find refuge with relatives or, for the most deprived, in the street. As concerns grow over another attack by Israel, the country declared three days of national mourning in honor of Hassan Nasrallah. A funeral is also expected to take place, but at this time no information has been released.
