The goal of the game: to tell the most beautiful lie. … On the occasion of franceinfo challengesall summer 2022, Benjamin Recouvreur took part in the King of Liars competition in Moncrabeau, in Lot-et-Garonne, which takes place every year on the first Sunday of August.
This is a very old tradition, dating back to 1748: at the time, idle bourgeois related current events… some of which were completely invented. Here, moreover, we are not talking about lying but about “travesty of the truth”.
The winner is then determined by spoonfuls of salt, poured into a small bag. And the one who gets the most is therefore designated “king of liars”: this year, with more than 1,270 kilos, it is the QUébécois Eric Michaud who wins the crown.
