(Jurmala) Canadians Brandie Wilkerson and Melissa Humana-Paredes won their first team gold medal at the Beach Pro Tour on Sunday.
Canada beat Switzerland’s Zoé Vergé-Dépré and Esmée Böbner 2-0 (21-17 21-17) in the final of the Jurmala tournament.
Their rivals put pressure on serve, but Canada had a 5-1 blocking advantage and made fewer errors.
Torontonians, Wilkerson and Humana-Paredes won bronze in an Elite 16 competition in the Czech Republic earlier this month.
Earlier Sunday, Canada beat Latvia’s Anastasija Samoilova and Tina Graudina 2-0 (21-17, 21-16) to advance to the final.
Latvia won bronze 2-1 against Brazilians Taina and Victoria (21-11, 20-22, 15-13).
