Bastien Souchet took over, in 2014, the farm of a couple who were retiring and who were involved in cattle breeding and poultry farming. He raises his pullets and roosters with Label Rouge specifications: free-range white chicken raised in the open air, fed with 100% vegetables, vitamins and minerals, including 75% cereals.
His chickens are fed without GMOs or antibiotics. Bastien Souchet likes this artisanal breeding which gives the chicken time to grow. After 30 days, the chickens leave the buildings to frolic in the open air. The chickens are reared for 3 months before being sent to the slaughterhouse for consumption.
He recommends cooking in the oven at 210°C for 1h15 for a 2 kg rooster, so that the skin is golden brown, with a drizzle of olive oil, a little salt and pepper.
More and more direct sales
Bastien Souchet does not work entirely alone. His dog Juna is an ally of choice. This 7-year-old border collie helps him at the end of the day when it comes to getting all the chickens into the building through trap doors. This dog accompanies Bastien on a daily basis.
Bastien’s poultry is partly sold directly, with live chickens and ready-to-cook chickens. He started in the summer of 2021 the country producer markets and even equipped himself for this with a rotisserie to sell the cooked chickens. It works very well, it is often called upon at events.
Bastien Souchet communicates on his Facebook page on his dates of sale of his Label Rouge chickens to be picked up at the farm.
