Last Sunday, in Brasília, thousands of supporters of the far-right ex-president Jair Bolsonaro attacked and vandalized the highest places of Brazilian democracy. Since the October election of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Bolsonaro admirers have been crying foul and refusing to accept the poll results, despite no evidence to support their claims. With Fabien Deglise, we trace what led to this uprising in addition to noting the striking similarities between the latter and the assault on the Capitol in Washington, which took place two years ago almost to the day.
