In Bakhmout, Ukraine, the soldiers of kyiv are resisting as best they can against the Russian enemy, who has almost completely surrounded the city. For fear of losing, the Ukrainians began to dig trenches to block the advance of Vladimir Putin’s troops.

On Saturday March 4, on the outskirts of the city, we can see a tank speeding towards Bakhmout (Ukraine). To the west of the city, seven kilometers from the Russian positions, one can see gunners, Ukrainian soldiers trying to repel the offensive of the Wagner militia. Above their heads there are permanent shots. They admit to being tired, but it is impossible to discuss with them the possible fall of the city. “It will not be a victory for them. They have spent far too much effort and far too many men. I’m sorry they use men like that, like cannon fodder”, supports Vladislav Zelensky, lieutenant-colonel.

Trenches dug just in case

The Ukrainians have been resisting for eight months. Before the war, 70,000 inhabitants lived on what is today a field of ruins. The Russians almost completely surround the city. On Friday, Putin’s soldiers managed to shell a bridge on the last road still under Ukrainian control. For the moment, Bakhmout is resisting, but behind the front, trenches have been dug to block the Russian advance. Over there, we impatiently await the weapons promised by the West.
