In Châlons en Champagne (Marne), students in BAC PRO AMA -Crafts and Craftsmanship- Upholsterer option from the Frédéric Ozanam High School in Châlons-en-Champagne will participate in the Pro Villa Médicis 2023 Residence in Rome supported by the Grand Est Region and the Villa Médicis, thanks to their collective project “Art de Vivre à la Romaine more 2000 years of history”.

Training
The PRO AMATA BAC -Craftsmanship and Craftsmanship option Upholsterer- concerns the dressing of furniture, armchairs, walls and windows.
This learning of know-how and gestures takes place over 3 years. During this period, the learner shapes and upholsters all kinds of furniture, including stylish or contemporary chairs. This work is done from the bare carcass of an armchair or a sofa that the student dresses in fabric or other after having garnished it with horsehair or synthetic foam.
His training also consists of making curtains or veils by hand or by machine. He/She also develops artistic knowledge to create decorations in line with the styles.
