Australia: 4 children killed in bouncy castle accident

Four children were killed and several others seriously injured Thursday in Australia, when the bouncy castle they were playing on was blown away by a gust of wind, police said.

The accident took place during an end of term fair at a primary school in Devonport, on the island of Tasmania.

The children fell about ten meters. Two boys and two girls, around 11, died, and five other children were seriously injured, Tasmanian police said.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison deplored a “shocking” accident.

“Young kids having fun outside with their families, and it turns into this horrible tragedy, this time of year it breaks your heart,” he said.

The weather forecast had forecast “light winds” and sunny weather at the start of this southern summer in the region, located on the north coast of Tasmania.
