(Atlanta) The Atlanta Falcons said Thursday they plan to meet with Bill Belichick for a second interview after speaking with Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson to fill their head coaching position.
Belichick said he got an interview with the Falcons on Monday, his first since leaving the New England Patriots. Belichick won six Super Bowls in 24 seasons with the Pats. He will be the first candidate for the Falcons head coaching job to get a second interview with them.
The Georgia team has not revealed details regarding this second interview with Belichick, who is 71 years old.
The Falcons are looking to find a successor to Arthur Smith, who was fired after leading them to a third straight 7-10 season.
Including the playoffs, Belichick has 333 victories in the NFL, and he ranks second in this regard behind the legendary Don Shula (347). He also led the Patriots to 17 section titles.
