Athletics | Audrey Leduc shatters the Canadian 100 meter record

Three weeks after an astonishing time of 11.08 seconds in the 100 meters, Quebec sprinter Audrey Leduc did even better by achieving a time of 10.96 seconds (wind +0.5 m/s), Saturday, at the meets LSU Alumni Gold, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The 25-year-old runner from Gatineau thus broke the Canadian record for the distance and reached the qualifying standard (11.07 seconds) for the Paris Olympic Games, which will take place this summer.

The previous national mark of 10.98 seconds had been held by the late Angela Bailey since 1987.

Leduc finished second in the event won in 10.88 seconds by American Aleia Hobbs, finalist at the 2022 World Athletics Championships. The Quebecer is now fifth in the best times of the year.
