At the Nancy hospital, the nursing staff are exhausted, and are preparing to live a difficult month of January. Some of them were recalled during their holidays.
Returning patients with intubated Covid-19, providing mouthwashes to avoid infections, or even changing vital infusions: this is once again the daily life of the intensive care unit at Nancy hospital (Meurthe-et-Moselle ). “It’s a bit of an endless day “, says Christelle Albert, nurse. Currently, around thirty cases are in intensive care, the overwhelming majority of which are unvaccinated.
Serious forms and congestion in intensive care units could be avoided with treatment, recalls Christelle Albert. Intubated for ten days, a 66-year-old patient has just emerged from a coma. Unvaccinated, she salutes the dedication of the team, and regrets her choice. To treat these heavy patients, 11 new beds have been opened. Nancy University Hospital plans to open four new beds dedicated to Covid-19.
