At least two dead and 28 injured in shooting in Baltimore

(Baltimore) Two people were killed and 28 were injured in a shooting in Baltimore, United States, on Sunday morning, three of whom are in critical condition, police said.




Baltimore Police Department Acting Commissioner Richard Worley confirmed there were a total of 30 casualties during a press conference at the scene.

The shooting took place just after 12:30 a.m. at a block party in the Brooklyn Homes area of ​​South Baltimore in the 800 Gretna Avenue block, Worley said.

The shooting comes amid rallies across the country ahead of the July 4 holiday. Elsewhere, a shooting in Kansas left seven people with gunshot wounds and two others were hospitalized after being trampled on as people rushed out of a nightclub early Sunday morning, police said.

In Baltimore, Maryland, all of the victims were adults. Nine injured people were taken by ambulance and 20 people entered area hospitals with injuries from the shooting, Worley said.

An 18-year-old woman was found dead at the scene and a 20-year-old man was pronounced dead in hospital soon after, police said.

“I want those responsible to hear me and hear me very clearly,” Mayor Brandon Scott said at the scene. We won’t stop until we find you, and we will find you. Until then, I hope every breath you take, think about the lives you’ve taken, think about the lives you’ve impacted here tonight. »

No arrests have been made so far. Mr Scott asked anyone with information to come forward to help investigators locate the ‘cowards’ responsible for the shooting.

Authorities said the crime scene was large and would take investigators some time to analyze.
