At least one person has been arrested in connection with the death of the series’ star actor Friends Matthew Perry, who died last year after taking ketamine, according to US media.
NBC quotes law enforcement officials as reporting one arrest, while US news site TMZ says there have been “several” arrests, including that of a doctor.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the star, who was found unconscious in October 2023 in a hot tub at her Los Angeles home and died from the “acute effects” of taking ketamine.

This anesthetic, sometimes diverted for stimulating or euphoric purposes, was taken by the actor in a supervised manner as part of therapy sessions for depression.
The question of how Matthew Perry — who had not had a supervised injection session for several days before his death — obtained the ketamine is at the heart of the investigation.
TMZ, citing police sources, reports that “at least one doctor has been arrested, as well as several dealers who helped organize and deliver the ketamine to Perry.”
Police also reportedly seized computers, phones and other electronic equipment containing messages discussing how to get the actor to take drugs and what he would pay to get them, according to TMZ.
“During their investigation, authorities discovered other celebrities involved in the Hollywood drug scene,” the outlet said, without giving further details.
Matthew Perry is known for his role in Friendsa series about the lives of six young people in New York. A true cultural phenomenon, it was broadcast between 1994 and 2004 and left its mark on a whole generation of viewers.
