At least 13 people were injured Tuesday morning by gunfire in the New York City subway system in the borough of Brooklyn, and explosive devices were found at the scene, police and firefighters said.
A spokesman for the fire department told AFP that “undetonated explosive devices” had been found. According to a police tweet, “there are no operable explosive devices at this time.”
An important security device has been put in place at 36th Street and 4th Avenue in Brooklyn, where the facts occurred.
“At 8:27 a.m., police received an emergency call from a person who was shot and killed in the subway” in Brooklyn, a New York police spokeswoman told AFP, asking the public to avoid the area.
According to a spokesman for the fire department, there were “several shots” and “13 people were injured”.
New York State Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul said she was monitoring the situation and being kept informed of the investigation into the event.
