“At La Sala”, Khruangbin | The duty

Khruangbin still makes Khruangbin, and it’s a joy to reunite with the Texan group for their fourth studio album, At La Sala, the one we’ve been waiting for for four long years. His musical vision, highly psychedelic and of extraordinary sonic fluidity, is thus intact, allowing us to connect to ourselves while opening up to a world of possibilities. We really like the multiple influences of Laura Lee Ochoa, Donald “DJ” Johnson, Jr. and Mark “Marko” Speer, who for example bring us to the dance floor thanks to the rhythms imported from West Africa on Pon Pon. With The little grayswhich concludes At the SalaKhruangbin finally gives us to hear something much more sober, or at least less sparkling than the rest, whose iterative keyboard scales could almost evoke Erik Satie under influence… It’s a shame that Khruangbin has, for the moment , no shows scheduled in Montreal — but we can always hope, with festival season approaching.
