Solidarity with Ukrainians does not weaken in France, Saturday March 12. Faced with the influx of material donations, the associations now prefer to call for donations of money because it is necessary to respond as best as possible to the needs of the refugees.
A mountain of duvets and blankets, all collected in just a few days. “We are reaching the limits of capacity a bit (…) We were asked to switch to financial donations in order to be able to buy very specific equipment”, explains a volunteer. But it’s hard to stop the momentum of solidarity in material donation. In Paris, a truck arrives filled with food donations, which are also sometimes made live. A mother brings food to the volunteers.
Donations are made in kind, but not only. “We have a ballot box. Every day, we have about thirty checks“, says a volunteer. 50,000 have already been collected for the benefit of two Franco-Ukrainian associations. A sum that will allow associations to buy what is missing directly on site. The money will allow the purchase of specific equipment such as generator sets.
