The 21 new deaths bring the daily average to 53. The trend is thus up 90% over one week.

The number of hospitalizations has increased to a total of 3,300 people at present, 105 more than the day before. Hospitalizations have increased by 36% in the last week. There are now 282 people in intensive care, an increase of 7.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) has identified 5,946 new cases of COVID-19. New infections reported on Sunday bring the daily average to 8,066. The trend is down 45% over one week. PCR tests are now reserved for healthcare and at-risk personnel. The number of daily infections is therefore no longer representative of the evolution of the pandemic.

The MSSS indicates that 81,564 additional injections were administered. Of these, 6,241 people reached out for the first time on Saturday.

More than 71,000 people received their third dose. So far, 67% of people 60 and older have received three doses.

As of January 16, unvaccinated people are 5.7 times more likely to be hospitalized than those who have received two doses of vaccine.

So far, 85.5% of the population has received their first dose, 78.2% their second and 29.9% their third.
