Quebec reported 16,461 new cases of COVID-19 and 13 additional deaths on Friday. Hospitalizations are up 124.
In the past week, more than 80,000 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded, an average of 11,706 per day. The trend is up 91% over one week.
The 13 additional deaths bring the daily average to 9. The trend is thus up sharply over one week.
The number of hospitalizations has increased to a total of 1,063 people today, 123 more than the day before. There are now 151 people in intensive care, an increase of 13. The number of people hospitalized has more than doubled in the past week.
There are 1,522 active outbreaks.
The number of tests performed on December 30 was 55,446. The positivity rate is 31.7%, six times more than the 5% threshold recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Resumption of vaccination
The Ministry of Health indicates that more than 80,000 additional injections were administered, or 2,629 first doses, 2,141 second and 76,802 third.
To date, just over 368,000 young people aged 5 to 11 have had their first dose, or 56% of this age group. In total, 40% of those over 60 received their third dose.
So far, 84.9% of the population has received their first dose, 77.8% their second and 15.6% their third.
