The comedy of Artus A little something extra has exceeded the 10 million admissions mark, three and a half months after its release, becoming the biggest success in French cinema in the last ten years, its distributor and director announced on Saturday.

That the 10,000,000 falls on my birthday is so crazy“, wrote the comedian Artus, director of this surprise success of the year, on his Instagram account, as the film crossed this symbolic threshold after 15 weeks of operation. With this film you are giving me the most beautiful gift I have ever had and will ever have.“, he emphasizes.

No French film has reached this threshold since What have we done to God? and its 12.3 million admissions in 2014. It now surpasses The Dinner of Fools (9.2 million admissions) or The Wretched (9.9 million) passing the 10 million mark, like before it big hits like The War of the Buttons (10.03 million), Les Bronzés 3, friends for life (10.22 million), Three men and a basket (10.25 million) or Taxi 2 (10.3 million).

This comedy claims the desire to laugh with people with disabilities and not at their expense. The comedian shares the screen with Clovis Cornillac, Alice Belaïdi as well as with a dozen amateur actors with disabilities.

A feel-good film“, said Artus, who thanks to this success became the French director to have generated the most admissions for a first film, thus dethroning Just Jaeckin who had sold nearly 8.9 million tickets in 1974 for Emmanuelle.
