The envelope for the assistance program for craftspeople and businesses in fine crafts will be increased by one million dollars, announced the Minister of Culture and Communications, Nathalie Roy, during her visit to the Salon des métiers d. arts of Montreal, Thursday afternoon.
“Investing in the arts and crafts means investing in the passion and innovation of Quebec artisans who forge our cultural identity and make it shine,” Minister Roy said in a press release.
The Salon des Métiers d’Arts du Québec is currently holding its 65e edition in Montreal.
The additional funding announced Thursday, which was provided for in the recent economic update of the Legault government, is in addition to the sums already granted to the Société de développement des entreprises cultures (SODEC) for the 2021-2022 recovery plan in support of Quebec artists and artisans.
This funding will be used in particular to support the marketing activities of artisans and businesses on the Quebec market, including production and advertising costs, in order to increase their sales.
