Armed man arrested at Pierre-Boucher hospital

A 29-year-old armed man was arrested at the Pierre-Boucher hospital in Longueuil on Tuesday.


The man was arrested while in possession of a pellet gun at the Pierre-Boucher hospital in Longueuil. He was arrested on the spot by the Longueuil agglomeration police department (SPAL) around 12:50 p.m. Tuesday.

“Thanks to the common sense of observation of a citizen and the collaboration of a security officer, the man was apprehended without incident”, indicated Mélanie Mercille, spokesperson for the SPAL.

The weapon was not used by the man and was seized by authorities. No injuries were reported, SPAL said.

The arrested man is under observation at the hospital “in order to receive adequate psychological help”, confirmed the Longueuil police.
