“After more than 25 years of investing myself with passion in this essential place of contemporary creation, I am certain of putting Usine C back in good hands”, commented Danièle de Fontenay, co-founder of Usine C. with Gilles Maheu, by press release. She had announced last December, with emotion, her decision to leave Factory C.

“L’Usine C represents for me, and for many performing arts artists from all over the world, a place of research-creation which reveals innovative aesthetic forms and which opens up extraordinary imaginary spaces”, added Ms.me Konrad.

Born in Germany, Angela Konrad is a professor and directs the Graduate School of Theater at UQÀM, while working as a director and playwright. After two decades in France, she immigrated to Quebec in 2012 and left her mark on the Quebec theatrical landscape with her company LAFABRIK.

Artist programmed several times at Usine C, Angela Konrad will present her adaptation of Vernon Subutex 1, the cult novel by French author Virginie Despentes. She will take up her post as General and Artistic Director at Usine C next September.

Founded in 1995, Usine C stands out in the theatrical landscape thanks to its multidisciplinary programming focused on contemporary creation, its hosting of foreign shows and its long residencies for artists.
