The captain of the XV of France, Antoine Dupont, is authorized to resume training. He could play against South Africa on Sunday October 15 in the quarter-final.
On September 21, while the Blues dominated Namibia at the Vélodrome stadium in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), the captain of the Blues, Antoine Dupont, received a headbutt and left the pitch. He underwent emergency surgery for a maxillo-zygomatic fracture. He returned to training a week later, without contact. Monday October 9, it’s finally official: he could play the next match.
Shared opinions
The supporters met in the morning by France Télévisions are divided. “It’s very, very, very good news. It will motivate the team”estimates one of them. “I think it’s too early for him”, estimates another. For them, the presence of Antoine Dupont can change the game on both sides. “It gives a lot of confidence to your partners, but the players we are going to meet, the teams we are going to meet do not approach the matches in the same way”comments Cédric Beaudou, rugby editor-in-chief of France Télévisions.
