Antoine de Caunes refuses to host the Césars again and hopes to be replaced by Jean Dujardin and his “controversies”!

Only Pierre Tchernia did better with 11 animations. Antoine de Caunes almost overtook him but did not wish to go any further. Indeed, the emblematic host of Canal + has been at the head of the Caesar ceremony ten times. It was in 2022 that he returned to his role for the first time since the 2013 edition. But the last edition will be the last. In any case, this is what José Garcia’s ex-acolyte announced in Nowhere else during an interview with Jade and Eric Dussart.

During this interview, broadcast this Saturday September 16, 2023 on RTL, Antoine de Caunes was asked about his desire to host the ceremony which rewards the world of French cinema for the 11th time. “This year, it was a collegiate presentation at the César Awards. Are you going to return to the César presentation next year? For the 11th time?”Eric Dussart asked him before Antoine de Caunes retorted: “No, I said 10, it’s 10”.

Antoine de Caunes no longer wants the Caesars

“I think 10 is good. I did what I thought I could do there. We tried everything, there were moments of grace, things succeeded, things failed. It’s good 10 , I spent 35 hours of my life live on this set announcing ‘now the nominees for…'”, he confided. Surprised, Eric Dussart wanted to know if the host notified Canal + of his desire: “Of course, I told them yes”.

According to him, the group reacted very well. But who will replace him in the future? Antoine de Caunes would have a name in mind. A name that has sparked many reactions in recent days: Jean Dujardin. “After the opening ceremony of the World Cup? With the beret?”Eric Dussart was surprised before his guest retorted and defended Nathalie Péchalat’s companion: “I loved all the controversies that it sparked behind it. It’s insane. I love Jean Dujardin, he’s someone I love deeply”.

Indeed, Jean Dujardin was honored during the opening ceremony of the Rugby World Cup on Saturday September 9. Dressed in a tank top, a beret on his head, distributing baguettes, his character divided the country and many deplored a ceremony that was “too clichéd”. Faced with the criticism received, the 51-year-old actor reacted this Thursday, September 14 on Instagram, to express his pain and his anger towards his detractors who did not understand his second degree and the message that he wanted to convey.
