Dozens of demonstrators opposed to the vaccine pass took to task Romain Grau, a deputy of the Republic marching in front of his office in Perpignan (Eastern Pyrenees), Saturday, January 22. Insults burst out, then gestures of intimidation. The deputy is jostled and threatened with death. He is punched in the face. Beside him, a man, the neighbor of the permanence of the deputy, intervenes and exchanges blows with a demonstrator.
Scratched in the face, the man takes the chosen one to take refuge at his home under the cries of the demonstrators. The chosen one is hit by a demonstrator and targeted by spitting. Today, the deputy and the adviser to the Minister of Justice are still shocked by the scene. “We were very close to lynching. There is reason to ask questions about our democracy and the need to engage in democracy”, says Romain Grau.
