Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo took a dip in the Seine on Wednesday after repeatedly postponing the deadline.

Cameras from all over the world on the banks of the Seine. It’s not the start of the Olympic events, but Anne Hidalgo’s first swim. Nine days before the Olympics, alongside Tony Estanguet in particular, the mayor of the capital kept her promise. Anne Hidalgo swam the crawl in the capital’s river. The Seine is swimmable again just in time for the triathlon and open water swimming events.

After weeks of poor results, bacteriological pollution is once again below the limit. This change is linked to the good weather in July and also thanks to colossal construction sites. 1.4 billion euros to build, for example, a storm rain reservoir and to grant more than 10,000 homes that evacuated their wastewater into the Seine or the Marne. On Saturday, July 13, the Minister of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra had also taken a dip in the Seine.
