A police officer was hit by the driver of a vehicle during an intervention on Saturday afternoon in the borough of Anjou. Four teenagers were arrested in connection with the event.
The assault occurred shortly after 3 p.m., not far from the Galeries d’Anjou. The police had been informed of an attempted theft of a vehicle in the parking lot of the shopping center.
During their intervention, the police located a suspicious vehicle on Saint-Zotique Street. The driver quickly fled, hitting a policeman who was on foot.
“The police officer fired at the suspect vehicle at least once,” said Montreal Police Department spokesman Jean-Pierre Brabant.
The officer was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The searches carried out led to the arrest of four young men, aged 17 and 18, in connection with the event. They will soon be met by the investigators.
As for the vehicle used during the assault, it was located in the parking lot of a shopping center on boulevard Langelier, near rue Bélanger, in the borough of Saint-Léonard.
Crime scenes were erected on Saint-Zotique Street, in the Galeries d’Anjou parking lot and on Langelier Boulevard to allow investigators to shed light on the circumstances of the event.
